I have been working with a wonderful screenplay writer, Jill, and we've put together an film adaptation of Megan's Way which really highlights Megan's relationship with Olivia, her teenage daughter, and grows the part of Olivia--you'll really see her shine! We've changed the title to Pieces of Me, which I feel suits Olivia's story a bit more appropriately.
The screenplay has been submitted to two screenplay contests and will be submitted to several screenplay agents in the upcoming weeks. Fingers are crossed, and I sure hope the judges see the beauty in this coming-of-age, dramatic film.
Here's a sneak peak:
Sixteen-year-old Olivia Taylor’s life is picture perfect.
Surrounded by a mother who adores her and “aunts” and “uncles” who positively dote on her, Olivia has all one would need to be happy. But when the relationship with her mother suddenly becomes strained, Olivia sets out to discover the terrible secret that is tearing them apart. After her mother unexpectedly dies, Olivia must come to terms with her grief while confronted with the realization that nothing in her life is what it seems.
Even meeting Jason, the handsome boy next door with a similarly heart-wrenching past, cannot prepare her for the secrets she would accidentally unveil. Then she must decide whether to act upon this knowledge, knowing it could tear apart the harmony her mother sacrificed so much to maintain.
Based on the novel, Megan’s Way, by Melissa Foster, Pieces of Me is a warm, sometimes mystical exploration into the bond between a mother and her daughter and the lengths to which some people will go to secure the happiness of those they love.
Pieces of Me: Some secrets tear relationships apart, while others bind them together.
